end point estimates for the bilinear circular averaging operator

Abstract

We prove that the bilinear circular averaging operator is bounded from $L^1(\mathbb{R}) \times L^1(\mathbb{R})$ to $L^{1/2,\infty}(\mathbb{R})$. The corresponding strong estimate fails, even when the inputs are nonnegative, smooth, and compactly supported. We also construct nonnegative $f,g \in L^1(\mathbb{R})$ for which the average does not belong to $L^{1/2}(\mathbb{R})$. The weak estimate is proved by a dyadic decomposition of the inputs and a summation over interval pairs near each quadratic fold.

The Restricted Three-Body Problem as a Perturbed Duffing Equation

This paper investigates the restricted circular planar three-body problem. We prove that for every negative Jacobi constant of sufficiently large magnitude, the surface of unperturbed parabolic solutions breaks to induce homoclinic tangles for all but at most finitely many mass ratios of primaries. Our approach relies on reformulating the restricted three-body problem as a perturbed Duffing equation by introducing new coordinate transformations. This enables us to capture the order of the singularities involved through a renormalized Duffing Hamiltonian structure, to derive the existence and analytic dependence of the invariant manifolds on the mass ratio of the primaries, and to evaluate the Poincaré-Melnikov integral directly through the explicit homoclinic solution of the unperturbed Duffing equation. Compared to existing works, our proof is significantly simpler and more direct. Moreover, the paper is self-contained: we do not rely on McGehee's analysis in \cite{Mc} to justify the applicability of the Poincaré-Melnikov method.

Assouad Dimensions and Spectra of Graphs of Weierstrass-Type Functions with Rapidly Growing Frequencies

We study the Assouad dimension, lower dimension, and Assouad spectrum of graphs of the functions \(f(x)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}a_nϕ(b_nx+θ_n)\), where \(ϕ\) is a nonconstant \(1\)-periodic \(C^2\) function, \(a_n,b_n>0\), \((θ_n)\) is an arbitrary real sequence, \(\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}a_n<\infty\), and \(b_{n+1}/b_n\to\infty\). We give sufficient conditions for the graph over every nondegenerate compact interval to have Assouad dimension two or lower dimension one. For \(a_n=b_n^{-α}\), \(0<α<1\), an explicit frequency-gap condition ensures that the Assouad spectrum equals two for \(α\leq\vartheta<1\). Writing \(β_*=\limsup_{n\to\infty}\log b_{n+1}/\log b_n\), we show that, if \(β_*>(2-α)/α\), the spectrum attains the general upper bound for \(α\)-Hölder graphs whenever \((2-α)/β_*\leq\vartheta<α\) and \(\vartheta>0\). When \(β_*=\infty\), this determines the complete spectrum. Together with Barański's formulas, our results yield graphs whose lower, Hausdorff, upper box, and Assouad dimensions are four distinct numbers.

Lyapunov-Krasovsky Functionals and the Existence of Unbounded Solutions of Functional-Differential Equations of Retarded Type

In this paper, the concepts of unboundedness and partial unboundedness of solutions of functional-differential equations of retarded type are introduced. On the basis of the method of Lyapunov-Krasovsky functionals, sufficient conditions for the existence of partially unbounded solutions are obtained. As corollaries, sufficient conditions for the existence of unbounded solutions are obtained.
