Zeros and Their Distribution for Leonardo Polynomials

Abstract

We investigate the zeros of Leonardo polynomials and their distribution in the complex plane. We show that the structure of the zeros differs between even and odd degrees. For even degrees, all zeros are simple and purely imaginary, with imaginary parts lying in \((-2,2)\). For odd degrees, there is exactly one positive real zero, whereas no negative real or purely imaginary zeros occur. We obtain two-sided bounds for the unique positive real zero, prove that it decreases strictly to zero as the degree increases through odd values, and determine its asymptotic behavior. Using the relation between Leonardo and Fibonacci polynomials together with a complex trigonometric parametrization, we transform the zero equation into a family of fixed-point problems. Suitable invariant disks are constructed, and the corresponding mappings are shown to be contractions. This yields a constructive description of the complete zero set, proves the simplicity of all zeros, and provides geometrically convergent iterations for their numerical approximation. The method also provides explicit control over the approximation error. Finally, we establish a degree-dependent vertical strip containing all zeros and show that its width tends to zero as the degree increases. Consequently, the zeros become uniformly concentrated near the imaginary axis. Numerical examples illustrate the convergence of the proposed method, the associated error estimates, and the resulting zero distributions.

Prescribed Primitive Roots And The Least Primes

Let $q\ne \pm1,v^2$ be a fixed integer. The least prime number $p \geq2 $ such that $q$ is a primitive root modulo $p$ is conjectured to be $p\ll (\log q)(\log \log q)),$ where $\gcd(p,q)=1$. This note proves the existence of a small subset of primes $p$ that satisfies the stated upper bound.

Lateral Weak Stieltjes Derivatives: A Global Characterization of Stieltjes--Sobolev Spaces

Weak formulations for Stieltjes differential equations must retain the directional information carried by atoms of the driving measure. We derive a lateral integration-by-parts identity in which the posterior trace of the test function is forced by the atomic product rule. The resulting dual formulation gives an exact global characterization of integral Stieltjes--Sobolev spaces for the full exponent range from one to infinity and reconstructs the unique strong representative from its traced weak state. We prove that the associated traced weak operator is closed, establish Poincaré--Stieltjes estimates, and \rev{characterize Stieltjes absolute continuity inside bounded variation through a canonical derivative measure whose restriction to the open interval is the classical distributional derivative}. The framework is then applied to finite-dimensional nonlinear measure-driven systems, yielding equivalence of weak, integral, and measure formulations, existence and uniqueness under integrable Lipschitz assumptions, compactness-based existence, and intrinsic reset laws. Cubic and logistic models illustrate the simultaneous encoding of continuous evolution and instantaneous interventions.

Admissible $qx+1$ Sequences, Semiconvergents, and Rational Catalan Numbers

Let $q\geq3$ be odd and put $m_r=\lfloor r\log_2q\rfloor$. We count parity sequences with exactly $r$ odd entries for which the coefficient in the $qx+1$ iteration first drops below $1$ at step $m_r+1$. Their number $a_q(r)$ also counts the corresponding residue classes modulo $2^{m_r+1}$. We derive a first-violation recurrence which, for $q=3$, proves a recurrence conjectured in 2015. We establish the sharp inequalities \[ \frac1r\binom{m_r-1}{r-1}\leq a_q(r)\leq\frac1r\binom{m_r}{r-1}. \] Equality is characterized by the lower and upper record indices of $\{r\log_2q\}$, equivalently by denominators of convergents and semiconvergents from below and above. At these indices $r\geq2$, the values $a_q(r)$ are rational Catalan numbers. We also characterize the dependence on $q$ and prove, for each fixed odd $q\geq3$, that $a_q(r)=Θ_q(r^{-3/2}B_q^r)$, where $B_q=(\log_2q)^{\log_2q}/(\log_2q-1)^{\log_2q-1}$. For $q=3$, this settles Hikawa's conjecture concerning the polynomial factor in a related counting function.
