Projective Lifting Theorem, Complex Reflection Groups, and Quasi-Galois Points for Fermat Varieties

Abstract

We investigate birational automorphisms of hypersurfaces that preserve the projection from a point. Let $V \subset \mathbb{P}^{n+1}$ be an irreducible hypersurface of degree $d \ge 3$ with $\dim \mathrm{Sing}(V) \le n-2$, and let $π_P : V \dashrightarrow \mathbb{P}^n$ denote the projection from a point $P \in \mathbb{P}^{n+1} \setminus \mathrm{Sing}(V)$. Assume moreover that if $d = 3$ then $P \notin V$. We prove that any $σ\in \mathrm{Bir}(V)$ satisfying $π_P \circ σ= π_P$ extends uniquely to a projective transformation of $\mathbb{P}^{n+1}$. By combining the above projective lifting theorem with the theory of complex reflection groups, we investigate Galois and quasi-Galois points for the Fermat variety $F_d^n \subset \mathbb P^{n+1}$ of dimension $n$ and degree $d$. We show that, for $d \ge 4$, $F_d^n$ has exactly $n+2$ Galois points and, in addition, $d(n+2)(n+1)/2$ quasi-Galois points. When $d=3$, $F_3^n$ has exactly $n+2$ outer Galois points.

Abundance theorem for minimal compact Kähler manifolds with vanishing second Chern class

In this paper, for compact Kähler manifolds with nef cotangent bundle, we study the abundance conjecture and the associated Iitaka fibrations. We show that, for a minimal compact Kähler manifold, the second Chern class vanishes if and only if the cotangent bundle is nef and the canonical bundle has the numerical dimension $0$ or $1$. Additionally, in this case, we prove that the canonical bundle is semi-ample. Furthermore, we give a relation between the variation of the fibers of the Iitaka fibration and a certain semipositivity of the cotangent bundle.

A Jacobian Criterion for Artin $v$-stacks

We prove a generalization of the Jacobian criterion of Fargues-Scholze for spaces of sections of a smooth quasi-projective variety over the Fargues-Fontaine curve. Namely, we show how to use their criterion to deduce an analogue for spaces of sections of a smooth Artin stack over the (schematic) Fargues-Fontaine curve obtained by taking the stack quotient of a smooth quasi-projective variety by the action of a linear algebraic group. As an application, we show various moduli stacks appearing in the Fargues-Scholze geometric Langlands program are cohomologically smooth Artin $v$-stacks and compute their $\ell$-dimensions.

Conditions for eigenvalue configurations of two real symmetric matrices (signature approach)

For two real symmetric matrices, their eigenvalue configuration is the relative arrangement of their eigenvalues on the real line. We consider the following problem: given two parametric real symmetric matrices and an eigenvalue configuration, find a simple condition on the parameters such that the two matrices have the given eigenvalue configuration. In this paper, we develop theory and give an algorithm for this problem, allowing the case where the matrices have multiple or shared eigenvalues. The output of the algorithm is a condition written in terms of the signatures of certain related symmetric matrices. We give a concrete application to parametric reachability of rank-$r$ updates of real symmetric matrices.
