Domains of Monomial Convergence in Banach Sequence Spaces
Abstract
We study the domains of absolute convergence of monomial expansions of holomorphic functions on Banach sequence spaces. We first show that, in every complex Banach sequence space $X$, each point outside the closed linear span of the coordinate unit vectors admits a continuous quadratic polynomial whose monomial expansion fails to converge absolutely at that point. Moreover, if $X$ is separable, then $\mathrm{dom}H(O)=O\cap\mathrm{dom}H(X)$ for every Reinhardt domain $O\subset X$. We then give a negative answer to a problem of Lempert by constructing a complex Banach sequence space $Y\not\cong\ell^1$ such that $\mathrm{dom}H(O)=O $ for every Reinhardt domain $O\subset Y$. We also determine $\mathrm{dom}H(O)$ for every Reinhardt domain $O$ in $\ell^p$, $1\leqslant p<\infty$, and in $c_0$, and obtain exact descriptions of $\mathrm{dom}H(\ell^\infty)$ and $\mathrm{dom}H(B_{\ell^\infty})$.
