On a problem on Ramanujan-Sato series of level 11

Abstract

A longstanding open problem concerning Ramanujan-Sato series is given by determining an expression for the coefficients $c_{11}(n)$ associated with Ramanujan-Sato series of level 11 with a fixed, nested, finite binomial sum for all nonnegative integers $n$, by direct analogy with the known formulas for the coefficients for lower-level Ramanujan-Sato series (and this is clarified and made explicit in our paper). This open problem was given by Cooper et al. in 2015 [J. Math. Anal. Appl.], in Cooper's 2017 textbook on Ramanujan's theta functions, and in Cooper's 2025 contribution to the Contemp. Math. series. This problem seems to have remained open. We succeed in solving this problem, by introducing and proving a double binomial sum formula for $c_{11}(n)$ that is directly analogous to the coefficient formulas for lower-level Ramanujan-Sato series.

Transfer operator for the Gauss' continued fraction map. I. Structure of the eigenvalues and trace formulas

Let L be the transfer operator associated with the Gauss' continued fraction map, known also as the Gauss-Kuzmin-Wirsing operator, acting on the Banach space. In this work we prove a two-term asymptotic formula for the eigenvalues of L, show their algebraic simplicity, sign alternation pattern, and decrease in absolute value. This settles, in a stronger form, the conjectures of D. Mayer and G. Roepstorff (1988), A.J. MacLeod (1992), Ph. Flajolet and B. Vallee (1995), also supported by several other authors. Further, we find an exact series for the eigenvalues, which also gives the canonical decomposition of trace formulas due to D. Mayer (1976) and K.I. Babenko (1978). This crystallizes the contribution of each individual eigenvalue in the trace formulas.

On a parity result for the symmetric square of modular forms with congruent residual representations

The parity of Selmer ranks for elliptic curves defined over the rational numbers $\mathbb{Q}$ with good ordinary reduction at an odd prime $p$ has been studied by Shekhar. The proof of Shekhar relies on proving a parity result for the $λ$-invariants of Selmer groups over the cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension $\mathbb{Q}_\infty$ of $\mathbb{Q}$. This has been further generalized for elliptic curves with supersingular reduction at $p$ by Hatley and for modular forms by Hatley--Lei. In this paper, we prove a parity result for the $λ$-invariants of Selmer groups over $\mathbb{Q}_\infty$ for the symmetric square representations associated to two modular forms with congruent residual Galois representations. We treat both the ordinary and the non-ordinary cases.

Symmetry of hypergeometric functions over finite fields and geometric interpretation

We begin by defining general hypergeometric functions over finite fields and obtaining a finite field analogue of a classical symmetry in their complex counterparts. We give a geometric proof for the symmetry by constructing isomorphisms between certain algebraic varieties. The numbers of rational points on these varieties are hypergeometric functions over finite fields.
