An entropy-level method for quantitative time-asymptotic in the Fokker-Planck model for fermions -- appearance of non saturation

Abstract

In this contribution we consider the Fokker-Planck equation for fermions, commonly known as the Fermi-Dirac-Fokker-Planck equation. This equation is a correction of the classical Fokker-Planck model that incorporates the Pauli exclusion principle. We present a novel approach that combines three ingredients: (1) stability of solutions, (2) quantitative convergence for a dense set of initial data via a robust entropy method, and (3) a De Giorgi level-set iteration, to establish quantitative time-asymptotic thermalisation for general initial data. In particular, we prove quantitative convergence for arbitrarily cold initial data.

On the inhomogeneous discounted Hamilton-Jacobi equations

In this paper, we study the family of inhomogeneous discounted Hamilton-Jacobi equations \begin{equation}\label{hjs1} λ(x)u+h(x,d_x u)=c \quad \tag{$\ast$} \end{equation} on a closed manifold $M$ with a non-identically vanishing discount factor $λ(x)$. There is a critical value $c_0\in[-\infty,\infty)$ such that \eqref{hjs1} admits a viscosity solution if $c>c_0$ and no solution if $c c_0$. In this case, we determine the basin of the stable solution and investigate the long-time behavior of the solution semigroup associated with \eqref{hjs1}. In particular, we obtain a formula relating the lowest convergence rate of the solution semigroup near a stable solution to a minimizing problem concerning the integral of $λ$ over Mather measures supporting on the $1$-graph of the stable solution. This formula has two direct consequences: 1) it yields a description of their asymptotic behavior as $c$ tends to infinity; 2) it helps to classify the ergodic Mather measures and locate their distribution in the phase space. The second consequence leads to a dynamical necessary condition for $c=c_0$.

Global existence of weak solutions to a nematic electrolyte model in 2D

In this paper, we study a system of partial differential equations modeling the dynamics of nematic electrolytes on a two-dimensional torus $\mathbb{T}^2$. The model couples the Poisson--Nernst--Planck equations for the evolution of ion concentrations and electrostatic potential with the Ericksen-Leslie equations for the flow and orientation of nematic liquid crystals. We prove the global existence of weak solutions to this system. The proof relies on a Ginzburg-Landau approximation scheme. Key steps include deriving uniform energy estimates and establishing the strong convergence of the director field by utilizing a Pohozaev-type identity to handle the lack of compactness in the Ericksen stress tensor.

Shock profiles for the Navier--Stokes--Fourier--Poisson system under the Boltzmann relation

The one-dimensional compressible Navier--Stokes--Fourier--Poisson system under the Boltzmann relation is studied for the existence of small-amplitude viscous shock profiles connecting the Rankine--Hugoniot states of the quasineutral Euler system with effective pressure $P_{\mathrm{eff}}=ρ(θ+1)$. This profile is unique up to translation, of Lax type, and orbitally stable in time without a zero-mass assumption on the perturbation. The proof is based on a center-manifold reduction of the traveling-wave ODE and on the method of $a$-contraction with shifts, together with a relative-entropy functional augmented by electric energy and a sharp estimate of the viscous flux associated with $P_{\mathrm{eff}}$.
