Comment on a proposal for non-relativistic transverse electromagnetic Hamiltonian

We comment on the recent proposal (arXiv:2608.21211v1 (2026)) of a new transverse Hamiltonian for electromagnetic interacting charged particles that ignores both the classical and quantum-mechanical versions of the already known one. 1 Introduction

Odd-Parity Perturbations of Geometrically Regular Black Holes with Hedgehog Scalar Hair

In this paper, we study linear perturbations of a geometrically regular black hole supported by a constrained $\mathrm{SO}(3)$ scalar triplet in the hedgehog configuration. Since the individual background scalars depend explicitly on the angular coordinates, the decoupling of polar and axial perturbations cannot be concluded from the spherical form of the metric or the energy--momentum tensor alone. To settle this point, we introduce the polar and axial metric and triplet amplitudes simultaneously and derive the corresponding projections of the radiative linearized Einstein--matter equations for $\ell\geq2$. The polar equations contain only polar amplitudes, whereas the axial equations contain only axial amplitudes; hence, the two off-diagonal blocks vanish at linear order. The resulting odd-parity sector forms a closed Einstein--scalar system in which a tangent perturbation of the scalar triplet is coupled to the Regge--Wheeler metric amplitudes. We show that its scalar equation has a second-order hyperbolic principal part whenever $K_Y\neq0$, and that, for the nonlinear kinetic function supporting the background, $K_Y>0$ throughout the black-hole exterior. The coefficient of the direct metric--scalar mixing is largest at the event horizon and decreases as $r^{-4}$ at large distance, while the metric block in the vacuum limit reproduces the standard Regge--Wheeler equation and potential; the scalar kinetic coefficient simultaneously vanishes, so the full operator changes rank. These results establish linear parity decoupling and the consistency of the closed axial equations. They do not, however, constitute a proof of mode stability, which requires the reduction of the complete quadratic action.

Variational Principles for Hierarchical Systems of Equations

A unified construction of variational principles (VP) is applied to hierarchical systems of equations. The adjoint set of equations involved in this construction differ from the original hierarchy set in important ways. Notably, upward and downward nature of hierarchy are reversed between the two sets, as are boundary conditions and, most significantly, whether or not the equations are factorizable. These features may make for ease of solving one of the two sets and thereby for usefulness of the VP themselves that employ both.

From Poincare Invariance to Gauge Theories: Yang-Mills and General Relativity

This article is founded on two fundamental principles: the principle field equations introduced in Refs. \cite{S, S1, S2} and the Fock-Ivanenko covariant derivatives \cite{FI, F}. The former yields the equations of motion for free fields of arbitrary spin and helicity. In the massless case, it also dictates that Lorentz transformations for tensor fields acquire an additional term, which takes the form of a gauge transformation \cite{W, S1}. The latter principle, the Fock-Ivanenko derivative, introduces interactions based on the intrinsic and Poincare groups. This framework allows us to recover a complete Yang-Mills theory, as well as general relativity in the connection-based formulations of Palatini and Ashtekar, both of which are theories with local gauge symmetries. While the standard approach begins with the symmetries of a matter action, we will instead derive dynamics directly from Poincare invariance. This perspective reveals that for free fields, Lorentz invariance induces the gauge symmetry of massless tensors. A proper definition of these gauge transformations, in turn, requires the covariant derivatives provided by the Fock-Ivanenko approach. Considering matter fields, we derive the interacting Dirac equation in the presence of Yang-Mills and gravitational fields from its free counterpart.
