Discretization-free exact recovery in geometric community detection

Abstract

Geometric community detection seeks to recover latent communities in networks where connectivity depends jointly on community structure and continuous spatial geometry. Existing exact-recovery approaches typically discretize the underlying space, which can impose restrictive structural assumptions on the connectivity functions. We develop a polynomial-time, discretization-free algorithm for exact recovery in the Geometric Hidden Community Model (GHCM), operating directly on the continuous geometry. Our method succeeds even when connectivity functions coincide on a nontrivial portion of their visibility range and when two communities can be distinguished only through their connectivity to a third community. We prove exact recovery under these weaker conditions and provide experiments showing that the algorithm succeeds beyond the theoretically guaranteed regime.

Multiplicative comparisons of Rényi entropies for weighted Bernoulli sums

We establish improved multiplicative bounds relating the Rényi entropies of different orders for weighted sums of independent Bernoulli random variables. In particular, we prove a logarithmic bound between the zeroth-order and infinity-order Rényi entropies, which yields a polynomial improvement over the square-root bound of Jain, Sah, and Sawhney. Additionally, we obtain explicit constant-factor bounds for comparisons among Rényi entropies of nonzero orders.

$L^p$-Convergence Rate of Backward Euler Schemes for Monotone SDEs

We give a unified method to derive the strong convergence rate of the backward Euler scheme for monotone SDEs in $L^p(Ω)$-norm, with general $p \ge 4$. The results are applied to the backward Euler scheme of SODEs with polynomial growth coefficients. We also generalize the argument to the Galerkin-based backward Euler scheme of SPDEs with polynomial growth coefficients driven by multiplicative trace-class noise.
