A Fourier analysis for $(θ,T)$-periodic functions and applications

Abstract

We develop a Fourier analysis for a generalization of the class of periodic functions, often referred to as $(θ, T)$-periodic functions, and prove several properties and inequalities related to the Fourier transform, including a type of Poincaré inequality, which extend the periodic case. As an application, we employ this analysis to show that a continuous linear operator acting on smooth $(θ, T)$-periodic functions is globally hypoelliptic/solvable if and only if the corresponding operator which acts on periodic functions is globally hypoelliptic/solvable, and characterize the global hypoellipticity/solvability of a class of first order differential operators acting on the set of smooth $(θ, T)$-periodic functions.

On the comparison principle for a nonlocal infinity Laplacian

In this article, we prove the uniqueness of viscosity solutions to $\mathcal{L}_{\infty} u =f$ in $Ω$, where $\mathcal{L}_{\infty}$ denotes the nonlocal infinity Laplace operator, $Ω$ a bounded domain, and $f$ a continuous functions such that $f \leq 0$. Uniqueness is established through a comparison principle.

Global well-posedness in the critical Besov space of the skew mean curvature flow in $\mathbb{R}^d: d\ge 5$

In this paper we prove small-data global well-posedness for the skew mean curvature flow of codimension-two submanifolds of \(\mathbb R^{d+2}\) (\(d\ge5\)) in the critical Besov space. With harmonic coordinates and Coulomb gauge, the flow is formulated as a quasilinear Schrödinger equation for the complex mean curvature coupled to an elliptic system for the geometric and gauge variables. The main difficulty is to control the frequency interactions at critical regularity, where no derivative margin is available. Our argument combines two complementary spacetime estimates derived from the mass and momentum balance laws: a new div-curl lemma introduced by the fourth author yields a bilinear estimate with a half-derivative gain, providing the key control of low-high interactions; while a quasilinear interaction Morawetz estimate provides critical spacetime bounds for comparable and high-high frequency interactions. These estimates coupled with the Gauss-Codazzi structure of the curvature equations yield the unique global solutions to the gauge-reduced system in the critical Besov space, and improves the previous small-data global regularity results.

On Fractional Borg-Levinson Problem

In this article, we investigate the fractional Borg-Levinson problem, an inverse spectral problem focused on recovering potentials from boundary spectral data. We demonstrate that, within an admissible class of potentials, the potential is uniquely determined by the given data. However, for technical reasons, we restrict the fractional exponent to the interval $(\frac12,1)$. The admissible class is explicitly defined in our calculations and depends solely on the domain and the spatial dimension.
