The linearized translator equation and applications

Abstract

In this paper, we consider the linearized translator equation $L_ϕu=f$, around entire convex translators $M=\textrm{graph}(ϕ)\subset\mathbb{R}^4$, i.e. in the first dimension where the Bernstein property fails. Here, $L_ϕu=\mathrm{div} (a_ϕD u)+ b_ϕ\cdot Du$ is a mean curvature type elliptic operator, whose coefficients degenerate as the slope tends to infinity. We derive two fundamental barrier estimates, specifically an upper-lower estimate and an inner-outer estimate, which allow to propagate $L^\infty$-control between different regions. Packaging these and further estimates together we then develop a Fredholm theory for $L_ϕ$ between carefully designed weighted function spaces. Combined with Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction we infer that the space $\mathcal{S}$ of noncollapsed translators in $\mathbb{R}^4$ is a finite dimensional analytic variety and that the tip-curvature map $κ:\mathcal{S}\to\mathbb{R}$ is analytic. Together with the main result from our prior paper (Camb. J. Math. '23) this allows us to complete the classification of noncollapsed translators in $\mathbb{R}^4$. In particular, we conclude that the one-parameter family of translators constructed by Hoffman-Ilmanen-Martin-White is uniquely determined by the smallest principal curvature at the tip.

Family index for Fredholm extensions of semi-Fredholm operators

This paper is devoted to an abstract analogue of elliptic boundary value problems, namely, Fredholm realizations of semi-Fredholm operators in a Hilbert space. Such a realization is determined by an abstract boundary condition, which is a subspace in the space of abstract boundary values. We find the $K^0$ index of a family of such abstract boundary value problems, or the $K^1$ index in the self-adjoint case, in terms of the corresponding family of abstract boundary conditions. Our approach is based on passing from a Fredholm operator to its graph. The graph forms a Fredholm pair with the horizontal subspace, and we prove the index formula by deforming the horizontal subspace instead of the operator.

Classifying Slice-Regular Polynomials via Group Actions on the Twistor Space

We study the equivalence classes of slice-regular functions $f:Ω\to\mathbb{H}$ on a symmetric slice domain $Ω$, and of their subclass made of polynomial slice-regular functions, with respect to the natural action of $\mathrm{PGL}(2,\mathbb{H})$ and its subgroups, by employing the twistor construction. In particular, we characterize slice--regular functions whose twistor lift is planar and belongs to a given orbit, and we find normal classes of slice-regular polynomials with respect to the action of a parabolic subgroup of $\mathrm{GL}(2,\mathbb{H})$.

Parabolic Bogomolov--Gieseker Inequality and Pluriharmonic Metrics on Regular Parabolic Higgs Sheaves over Compact Kähler Manifolds

We prove a parabolic Bogomolov--Gieseker inequality for stable regular parabolic Higgs sheaves on a compact Kähler manifold \((X,ω)\) equipped with a simple normal crossing divisor \(D\). We also prove that a polystable regular parabolic Higgs sheaf admits a pluriharmonic metric on \(X\setminus D\), provided that each stable summand has parabolic degree zero and vanishing integrated second parabolic Chern character.
