Generalized Vaidya Spacetime in Cotton and Conformal Killing Theories

Abstract

We demonstrate that the non-vacuum field equations of Cotton gravity and Conformal Killing gravity admit a generalized class of Vaidya-type solutions. In particular, beyond the standard induced term associated with the matter source, the generalized metric incorporates two additional correction terms of purely geometric origin, arising from the unique structure of these theories. This extended solution generalizes the classical Vaidya spacetime in General Relativity and offers new insights into the dynamics of radiating spacetimes within the framework of these third-rank gravity theories.

Oscillatory spacelike singularities: The Bianchi type $\mathrm{VI}_{-1/9}$ vacuum models

The Bianchi type $\mathrm{VI}_{-1/9}$, $\mathrm{VIII}$ and $\mathrm{IX}$ vacuum models all have 4-dimensional Hubble-normalized state spaces and are expected to have a generic initial oscillatory singularity, but the invariant boundary sets responsible for the oscillations are much more complicated for type $\mathrm{VI}_{-1/9}$ than those of type $\mathrm{VIII}$ and $\mathrm{IX}$. For the first time, we explicitly solve the equations on these type $\mathrm{VI}_{-1/9}$ boundary sets and also introduce a new graph representation of the associated network of heteroclinic chains (i.e., sequences of solutions describing the oscillations). In particular, we give examples of networks of cyclic heteroclinic chains and show that only some of these cyclic heteroclinic chains are asymptotically relevant.

Resonances in the early Universe

In the present paper, we study a Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) quantum cosmology model with positively curved spatial sections. The matter content of the model is given by a radiation fluid, a constant vacuum energy, and an ad hoc potential. After writing the Hamiltonian of the model, we notice that the effective potential ($V_{eff}$) depends on two parameters: $ρ_v$, the constant vacuum energy density and $σ$, associated with the ad hoc potential. Depending on the values of these parameters $V_{eff}$ becomes a double barrier potential. We quantize the model and obtain the Wheeler-DeWitt equation. We solve that equation using the WKB approximation and compute the corresponding probability ($TP_{WKB}$) that the wavefunction of the universe tunnels through the double barrier potential $V_{eff}$. We study how $TP_{WKB}$ behaves as a function of the parameters $ρ_v$, $σ$ and the radiation energy $E$. We notice the occurrence of resonances in $TP_{WKB}$ when we vary it as a function of $E$, $ρ_v$ and $σ$. It is a very interesting phenomenon because it may cause the universe to be born with selected values of $E$, $ρ_v$ and $σ$.

Slow-roll approximations for Gauss-Bonnet inflation revisited

In our paper we consider the validity of slow-roll approximations for Gauss-Bonnet inflation introduced in [1]. In contrast to the cited paper where the coupling function before the Gauss-Bonnet term have been chosen as a decaying function of the scalar field, here we consider growing coupling functions. We have found that while in [1] new slow-roll approximations work considerably better, now they do not increase the precision. Moreover, we identify some cases where more involved approximations work worse than the standard one. Corresponding explanations of such a situation are given.
