Combinatorial results for zero-divisors regarding right zero elements of order-preserving transformations

Abstract

For any positive integer $n$, let $\mathcal{O}_{n}$ be the semigroup of all order-preserving full transformations on $X_{n}=\{1<\cdots <n\}$. For any $1\leq k\leq n$, let $π_{k}\in \mathcal{O}_{n}$ be the constant map defined by $xπ_{k}=k$ for all $x\in X_{n}$. In this paper, we introduce and study the sets of left, right, and two-sided zero-divisors of $π_{k}$: \begin{eqnarray*} \mathsf{L}_{k} &=& \{ α\in \mathcal{O}_{n}:αβ=π_{k} \mbox{ for some }β\in \mathcal{O}_{n} \setminus\{π_{k}\} \}, \mathsf{R}_{k} &=& \{ α\in \mathcal{O}_{n}:γα=π_{k} \mbox{ for some }\ γ\in \mathcal{O}_{n}\setminus\{π_{k}\} \}, \ \mbox{and} \ \mathsf{Z}_{k}=\mathsf{L}_{k}\cap \mathsf{R}_{k}. \end{eqnarray*} We determine the structures and cardinalities of $\mathsf{L}_{k}$, $\mathsf{R}_{k}$ and $\mathsf{Z}_{k}$ for each $1\leq k\leq n$. Furthermore, we compute the ranks of $\mathsf{R}_{1}$,\, $\mathsf{R}_{n}$,\, $\mathsf{Z}_{1}$,\, $\mathsf{Z}_{n}$ and $\mathsf{L}_{k}$ for each $1\leq k\leq n$, because these are significant subsemigroups of $\mathcal{O}_{n}$.

Growth functions of algebras and an application to Leavitt path algebras

In this paper, we consider three growth functions of algebras: the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, superdimension, and entropy -- as well as a variation of the latter successfully used in the study of Leavitt path algebras. We prove results that make precise the heuristic fact that the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension is suitable for the study of algebras with polynomial growth, the superdimension for algebras with subexponential growth, and the entropy for algebras with exponential growth. We introduce a definition of entropy for graded modules motivated by the entropy for graded algebras. As an application of our study, we give a new criterion for Leavitt path algebras to be PI.

Wreath products of cocommutative Hopf algebras

We define wreath products of cocommutative Hopf algebras, and show that they enjoy a universal property for coalgebra-split extensions, analogous to the Kaloujnine-Krasner theorem for groups. We show that the group ring of a wreath product of groups is the wreath product of their group rings. The enveloping algebra of the wreath product of two Lie algebras is the irreducible component containing the identity in the wreath product of their enveloping algebras. We recover the aforementioned result that group extensions may be classified as certain subgroups of a wreath product, and that Lie algebra extensions may also be classified as certain subalgebras of a wreath product.

Polynomial Identities and Codimensions of Certain Three-Dimensional Metabelian Non-Lie Leibniz Algebras

Over an arbitrary field, we conduct a comprehensive study of the polynomial identities and codimensions of two- and three-dimensional metabelian non-Lie Leibniz algebras. In addition, we compute the images of multihomogeneous polynomials on two-dimensional Leibniz algebras and, as a consequence, prove that the image of any multilinear polynomial evaluated on such algebras is always a vector space. Our analysis includes the three nontrivial isomorphism classes in dimension two and the ten isomorphism classes in dimension three, all of which are metabelian. In particular, we determine finite bases for their corresponding $T$-ideals and provide explicit bases for the associated relatively free graded algebras.
