On $\mathrm{F}$-spaces of almost-Lebesgue functions

Abstract

We consider the space of functions almost in $L_p$ and endow it with the topology of asymptotic $L_p$-convergence. This yields a completely metrizable topological vector space which, on finite measure spaces, coincides with the space of measurable functions equipped with the topology of (local) convergence in measure. We investigate analogs of classical results such as dominated convergence and Vitali convergence theorems. For $\mathbb{R}^d$ as the underlying measure space, we establish results on approximation by smooth functions and separability. Further aspects, including local boundedness, local convexity, and duality are examined in the $\mathbb{R}^d$ setting, revealing fundamental differences from standard $L_p$ spaces.

Contraction properties and differentiability of $p$-energy forms with applications to nonlinear potential theory on self-similar sets

We introduce a new contraction property, which we call the generalized $p$-contraction property, for $p$-energy forms as generalizations of many well-known inequalities, such as $p$-Clarkson's inequality, the strong subadditivity and the Markov property in the theory of nonlinear Dirichlet forms, and show that any $p$-energy form satisfying $p$-Clarkson's inequality is Fréchet differentiable. We also verify the generalized $p$-contraction property for $p$-energy forms on fractals constructed by Kigami [Mem. Eur. Math. Soc. 5 (2023)] and by Cao--Gu--Qiu [Adv. Math. 405 (2022), no. 108517]. As a general framework of $p$-energy forms taking the generalized $p$-contraction property into consideration, we introduce the notion of $p$-resistance form and investigate fundamental properties of $p$-harmonic functions with respect to $p$-resistance forms. In particular, some new estimates on scaling factors of self-similar $p$-energy forms on self-similar sets are obtained by establishing Hölder regularity estimates for $p$-harmonic functions, and the $p$-walk dimensions of any generalized Sierpiński carpet and the $D$-dimensional level-$l$ Sierpiński gasket are shown to be strictly greater than $p$.

Multiple operator integrals, pseudodifferential calculus, and asymptotic expansions

We push the definition of multiple operator integrals (MOIs) into the realm of unbounded operators, using the pseudodifferential calculus from the works of Connes and Moscovici, Higson, and Guillemin. This in particular provides a natural language for operator integrals in noncommutative geometry. For this purpose, we develop a functional calculus for these pseudodifferential operators. To illustrate the power of this framework, we provide a pertubative expansion of the spectral action for regular $s$-summable spectral triples $(\mathcal{A}, \mathcal{H}, D)$, and an asymptotic expansion of $\mathrm{Tr}(P e^{-t(D+V)^2})$ as $t \downarrow 0$, where $P$ and $V$ belong to the algebra generated by $\mathcal{A}$ and $D$, and $V$ is bounded and self-adjoint.

Besov spaces and Schatten class Hankel operators for Hardy and Paley--Wiener spaces in higher dimensions

We consider Schatten class membership of Hankel operators on Paley--Wiener spaces of convex $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$, both for bounded and unbounded domains. In particular, the classical product Hardy spaces fit within our theory. For admissible domains, we develop a framework and theory of Besov spaces of Paley--Wiener type, and prove that a Hankel operator belongs to the Schatten class $S^p$ if and only if its symbol belongs to a corresponding Besov space, for $1 \leq p \leq 2$. We extend this result to all $1 \leq p < \infty$ for the classical product Hardy spaces and to $1 \leq p < 2(n+1)/(n-1)$ for the Paley--Wiener space of a bounded smooth domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ of strictly positive curvature.
