Magneto-optical transport in type-I multi-Weyl semimetals in the presence of orbital magnetic moment
Abstract
Multi-Weyl semimetals (mWSMs) are topological quantum materials whose Weyl nodes carry higher monopole charges and exhibit strongly anisotropic dispersions. We investigate the linear and nonlinear magneto-optical transport of tilted type-I mWSMs with arbitrary monopole charge $J$ within a semiclassical Boltzmann framework that incorporates both Berry-curvature (BC) and orbital-magnetic-moment (OMM) corrections. We derive analytical expressions for the longitudinal, Hall, planar Hall and second-harmonic magnetoconductivities in the presence of external electric and magnetic fields. The resulting conductivity components exhibit characteristic scaling with the chemical potential and monopole charge, reflecting the anisotropic dispersion of multi-Weyl nodes. We further elucidate the interplay between the BC and OMM contributions and show that the OMM generally suppresses the BC-induced magnetoconductivity, while its contribution can become comparable to or larger than the BC contribution for specific transport geometries. Our results provide experimentally accessible signatures of the combined effects of cone tilt, higher monopole charge, Berry curvature, and orbital magnetic moment in the magneto-optical response of multi-Weyl semimetals.
