Deformation of Residual Intersections

Abstract

It is shown that in a Cohen-Macaulay local ring, the generic linkage of an ideal $I$ is a deformation of the arbitrary linkage of $I$. This fact does not need $I$ to be a Cohen-Macaulay ideal. The same holds for $s$-residual intersections of $I$ when $s$ does not exceed the height of $I$ by one. Under some slight conditions on $I$, one further generalizes this principle to encompass any $s$-residual intersection.

The Eisenbud-Huneke-Ulrich conjecture and bounds on minimal generators

We prove the Eisenbud--Ulrich conjecture on the powers of linearly presented ideals in characteristic zero. More generally, we study stabilization bounds for powers of m-primary ideals in a polynomial ring with partially linear resolutions, making further progress toward the more general Eisenbud--Huneke--Ulrich conjecture. We prove a global generation result on relevant higher syzygy bundles, which is a crucial ingredient to the proof of the Eisenbud--Ulrich conjecture. We also establish lower bounds for the number of minimal generators in two settings: ideals generated by quadrics and ideals that are virtually linearly presented. Motivated by these results, we formulate a conjecture predicting sharp lower bounds for the number of minimal generators of such ideals.

Buchsbaum modules and parameter ideals under flat extensions

Let $(R,\frak m)$ and $(S, \frak n)$ be commutative Noetherian local rings, let $φ: R\to S$ be a flat local homomorphism. In this paper, we first characterize the ascent and descent of Buchsbaum modules and generalized Cohen-Macaulay modules via the flat extension $φ$. Then, we provide relationships between the parameter ideals of a finitely generated $R$-module $M$ and those of $M\otimes_RS$ under the assumption that $\frak{n} = \frak{m} S.$

Categories of Multigraded Local Cohomology Modules: Serre Filtrations and Nakayama Duality

Let $\Bbbk$ be a field, let $S=\Bbbk[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ with its standard $\mathbb N^n$-grading, and let $\mathfrak m=(x_1,\ldots,x_n)$. For $0\le i<n$ and $q=n-i$, we identify the category $\mathcal H_i(\mathbf t)$ of shifted multigraded local cohomology modules with \[ \Rep(U_q(\mathbf t)),\qquad U_q(\mathbf t)=\{\mathbf a\in[\mathbf0,\mathbf t]\mid |\operatorname{supp}(\mathbf a)|\ge q\}. \] This gives the finite and global Serre filtrations and their pure support-rank quotients. We organize the resulting torsion and quotient structures through abelian recollement: an order-ideal decomposition produces a canonical TTF triple, hereditary support torsion pairs, and Gabriel quotients. For finite posets both complementary recollement orientations exist, whereas for the global finite-support categories only the inward-finite orientation is automatic. These recollements admit bounded derived lifts. Under an additional finite-resolution condition the derived finite-support categories have right Serre functors, and derived Kan extensions satisfy a right-Serre exchange. In finite boxes we further construct a functorial rank-layer resolution comparing the left and right Kan sections; Nakayama--Serre duality transforms it into an explicit costandard rank complex. The exceptional top category $\mathcal H_n(\mathbf t)$ is treated separately via second cosyzygies.
