Two Positive Normalized Solutions and Phase Separation for Coupled Schrödinger Equations on Bounded Domain with L2-Supercritical and Sobolev Critical or Subcritical Exponent

Abstract

In this paper we study the existence of positive normalized solutions of the following coupled Schrödinger system: \begin{align} \left\{ \begin{aligned} & -Δu = λ_u u + μ_1 u^3 + βuv^2, \quad x \in Ω, \\ & -Δv = λ_v v + μ_2 v^3 + βu^2 v, \quad x \in Ω, \\ & u > 0, v > 0 \quad \text{in } Ω, \quad u = v = 0 \quad \text{on } \partialΩ, \end{aligned} \right. \nonumber \end{align} with the $L^2$ constraint \begin{align} \int_Ω|u|^2dx = c_1, \quad \quad \int_Ω|v|^2dx = c_2, \nonumber \end{align} where $μ_1, μ_2 > 0$, $β\neq 0$, $c_1, c_2 > 0$, and $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$ ($N = 3, 4$) is smooth, bounded, and star-shaped. Note that the nonlinearities and the coupling terms are both $L^2$-supercritical in dimensions 3 and 4, Sobolev subcritical in dimension 3, Sobolev critical in dimension 4. We show that this system has a positive normalized solution which is a local minimizer. We further show that the system has a second positive normalized solution, which is of M-P type when $N = 3$. This seems to be the first existence result of two positive normalized solutions for such a Schrödinger system, especially in the Sobolev critical case. We also study the limit behavior of the positive normalized solutions in the repulsive case $β\to -\infty$, and phase separation is expected.

Determination of the potential by a fixed angle scattering data

In this paper, we show that a compactly supported potential is uniquely determined by the far field pattern at a fixed angle. Our method is based on a new Carleman estimate and the ideas introduced by Bukhgeim and Klibanov on the use of Carleman estimates for inverse problems.

Geometric Integration by Parts and Sobolev Spaces on Vector Bundles: A Unified Global Approach

This article develops a unified and intrinsic framework for the theory of Sobolev spaces on vector bundles over Riemannian manifolds. The analytical core of our approach is an explicit higher-order geometric integration by parts formula, which characterizes the formal adjoint of the covariant derivative as a global differential operator. This identity is established on arbitrary Riemannian manifolds with boundary, without assuming completeness or compactness. While first-order integration by parts identities are classical, explicit higher-order formulas with precise boundary terms are rarely stated in the literature. As applications of this framework, we recover the classical Meyers--Serrin theorem on arbitrary manifolds and, in the compact case, the Sobolev embedding and Rellich--Kondrachov compactness theorems, providing direct and self-contained proofs. At the end of this work we also stablish a Green Formula and we use it to stablish norm equivalence in Sobolev Spaces on vector bundles with closed manifold as base space and the Bochner laplacian operator. As a corollary we show that, in case of trivial vector bundles this equivalence reduces to a well known (but non proved rigorously in literature) result for closed manifolds and the Laplace-Beltrami operator. By emphasizing intrinsic global arguments and sharp local-to-global norm equivalence estimates, rather than ad hoc coordinate patching, this work offers a transparent and accessible foundation for the study of Sobolev spaces on vector bundles, suitable for researchers in global analysis, differential geometry, and partial differential equations.

Formation of quasi-singularities of shock and implosion type for compressible Euler flows

This paper investigates a novel quasi-singularity formation phenomenon in the isentropic compressible Euler equations in three dimensions. For any prescribed finite set of points $\{z_j\}_{j=1}^N \subset \mathbb{R}^3$ and an arbitrarily large parameter $M \gg 1$, we explicitly construct real-analytic initial data generated by Herglotz-type wave fields. We prove that the corresponding classical solution $$ (p,v)\in C^1([0,T]\times\mathbb{R}^3;\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^3), $$ with $$ T = C_0 \, M^{-\frac{3γ+1}{γ-1}}, $$ where $γ> 1$ is the adiabatic index and $C_0 > 0$ is a constant independent of $M$. Throughout the time interval $[0, T]$, the velocity field, its spatial gradient, and the pressure gradient exhibit simultaneous localized amplification at each prescribed point $z_j$. More precisely, each component of the velocity field is bounded below by $M$, each component of the pressure gradient is of size at least $M^{\frac{2γ}{γ-1}}$, and the velocity gradient exhibits a prescribed anisotropic sign pattern with entries of size at least $M$ at every $z_j$. All implicit constants in these estimates are independent of $M$ and depend solely on the fixed physical parameters and the locations $\{z_j\}_{j=1}^N$. This mechanism generates highly localized, shock-like gradient concentrations and implosion-like spatial profiles within the smooth regime. The underlying mechanism relies on the construction of the Herglotz kernel via Helmholtz far-field patterns, together with delicate quantitative energy estimates for the quasilinear hyperbolic system.
