Initial correlations of the Glasma energy-momentum tensor

Abstract

We present an analytical calculation of the covariance of the energy-momentum tensor associated to the gluon field produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions at early times, the Glasma. This object involves the two-point and single-point correlators of the energy-momentum tensor ($\langle T^{μν}(x_{\perp})T^{σρ}(y_{\perp})\rangle$ and $\langle T^{μν}(x_{\perp})\rangle$, respectively) at proper time $τ\!=\!0^+$. Our approach is based on the Color Glass Condensate effective theory, which allows us to map the fluctuations of the valence color sources in the colliding nuclei to those of the energy-momentum tensor of the produced gluon fields via the solution of the classical equations of motion in the presence of external currents. The color sources in the two colliding nuclei are characterized by Gaussian correlations, albeit in more generality than in the McLerran-Venugopalan model, allowing for non-trivial impact parameter and transverse dependence of the two-point correlator. We compare our results to those obtained under the Glasma Graph approximation, finding agreement in the limit of short transverse separations. However, important differences arise at larger transverse separations, where our result displays a slower fall-off than the Glasma Graph result ($r^{-2}$ vs $r^{-4}$ power-law decay), indicating that the color screening of the correlations in the transverse plane occurs at distances larger than $1/Q_s$ by a logarithmic factor sensitive to the infrared. In the Glasma flux tube picture, this implies that the color domains are larger than originally estimated.

Resumming transverse observables for NNLO+PS matching in GENEVA

We study the use of higher-order resummation for transverse observables to achieve NNLO+PS matching within the GENEVA framework. In particular, we embed $q_T$ resummation for colour-singlet production at N$^3$LL obtained via soft-collinear effective theory and implemented in the library SCETlib within GENEVA. We also study for the first time the use of the generalised $N$-jettiness variable in parton shower matching, and achieve the resummation of the one-jettiness defined with transverse measures up to NLL$'$ accuracy. As a case study, we use these resummed calculations to construct a GENEVA NNLO+PS generator for Higgs boson production in heavy-quark annihilation (with beauty or charm-quarks in the initial state). The use of transverse measures facilitates the matching to showers ordered in transverse momentum, and opens the door to possible future extensions of this approach to the production of colour singlets in association with final-state jets.

Matching HEFT and SMEFT in double and triple Higgs production from weak boson fusion

In this work we study the matching between the two most popular effective field theories for beyond standard model Higgs physics, SMEFT and HEFT. To perform this matching we follow the approach of identifying the corresponding scattering amplitudes for physical processes in both theories, instead of the most usual approach of relating the corresponding effective Lagrangians or effective actions. In this work we focus on the physical processes of double and triple Higgs production from weak boson fusion, in particular, $WW \to HH$, $ZZ \to HH$, $WW \to HHH$ and $ZZ \to HHH$ and complement them with the elastic scattering $HH \to HH$. We present here the analytical solution to this matching in terms of relations among the coefficients in both theories and comment on the most relevant phenomenological implications of such relations for collider physics.
