Bäcklund-Darboux Transformations and Discretizations of $N=2\; a=-2$ Supersymmetric KdV Equation

Abstract

The $N=2 \;a=-2$ supersymmetric KdV equation is studied. A Darboux transformation and the corresponding Bäcklund transformation are constructed for this equation. Also, a nonlinear superposition formula is worked out for the associated Bäcklund transformation. The Bäcklund transformation and the related nonlinear superposition formula are used to construct integrable super semi-discrete and full discrete systems. The continuum limits of these discrete systems are also considered.

Rogue-like waves from collision of mKdV solitons

Interactions of two solitary waves with an up and a down orientation in the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation are shown to produce rogue-like waves. For waves that asymptotically vanish, the maximum ratio between the height of the interaction profile and the height of the tallest incoming wave is 2.41 when the waves have approximately equal speeds, and this ratio decreases to 2 when the speed ratio is 1.5. For waves that approach a non-zero constant at infinity, the same ratio reaches a maximum of 2.65 when the speed ratio of the waves is 6.32.

On Bäcklund transformations preserving the Darboux integrability of hyperbolic equations

This paper deals with two kinds of Bäcklund transformations for scalar hyperbolic partial differential equations. We prove that both these types of transformations map solutions of a Darboux integrable equation into solutions of, generally speaking, another but also Darboux integrable equation. The latter fact can be used to roughly check the completeness of a list of Darboux integrable equations. To illustrate this, we apply the above transformations to several equations from a well-known list of Darboux integrable equations and, as a result, obtain a Darboux integrable equation which is absent in this list, but is already known at present. As a generalization of the last equation, we construct a family of Darboux integrable equations that is parametrized by three arbitrary functions, each of which depends on two arguments. This family is probably new.

Direct linearization, Cauchy matrix and Sato Grassmannian

Fu and Nijhoff's direct linearization scheme for the KP hierarchy and its reductions employs a system of evolution equations of an infinite matrix $U$ with quadratic nonlinearity. Part of the matrix elements of $U$ can be identified with affine coordinates $w_{ij}$ of the top cell of the Sato Grassmannian. The evolution equations of these matrix elements are identical to the evolution equations of $w_{ij}$ representing the KP hierarchy in geometric terms. This geometric interpretation can be extended to other matrix elements of $U$ by introducing negative flows to the evolution equations of $U$. The extended system turns out to be substantially equivalent to the two-component KP hierarchy. The Cauchy matrix approach to the KP hierarchy can be explained in this geometric perspective. Multi-component generalizations of Fu and Nijhoff's nonlinear system are related to the AKNS and ASDYM hierarchies. Multi-component Sato Grassmannians show up therein as the relevant geometric structure.
