Mirror Symmetry of Minimal Calabi-Yau Manifolds

Abstract

We perform the mirror transformations of Calabi-Yau manifolds with one moduli whose Hodge numbers $(h^{11}, h^{21})$ are minimally small. Since the difference of Hodge numbers is the generation of matter fields in superstring theories made of compactifications, minimal Hodge numbers of the model of phenomenological interest are (1,4). Genuine minimal Calabi-Yau manifold which has least degrees of freedom for Kähler and complex deformation is (1,1) model. With help of {\it Mathematica} and {\it Maple}, we derive Picard-Fuchs equations for periods, and determine their monodromy behaviors completely such that all monodromy matrices are consistent in the mirror prescription of the model (1,4), (1,3) and (1,1). We also discuss to find the description for each mirror of (1,3) and (1,1) by combining invariant polynomials of variety on which (1,5) model is defined. The genus 0 instanton numbers coming from mirror transformations in above models look reasonable. We propose the weighted discriminant for genus 1 instanton calculus which makes all instanton numbers integral, except (1,1) case.

Quantum Chaos Diagnostics for non-Hermitian Systems from Bi-Lanczos Krylov Dynamics

In Hermitian systems, Krylov complexity has emerged as a powerful diagnostic of quantum dynamics, capable of distinguishing chaotic from integrable phases, in agreement with established probes such as spectral statistics and out-of-time-order correlators. By contrast, its role in non-Hermitian settings, relevant for modeling open quantum systems, remains less understood due to the challenges posed by complex eigenvalues and the limitations of standard approaches based on orthogonality, such as singular value decomposition. Here we demonstrate that Krylov complexity, computed via the bi-Lanczos algorithm, provides a reliable probe of quantum chaos in non-Hermitian systems, clearly discriminating chaotic and integrable regimes. Our results agree with complex spectral statistics and complex spacing ratios, underscoring the robustness of the method. Universality is supported by extensive tests in the non-Hermitian Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model and random-matrix ensembles across multiple non-Hermitian symmetry classes, with further validation provided by the non-Hermitian random-field XXZ model as a pseudo-Hermitian system.

Precision asymptotics of string amplitudes

Recent work revealed a tension between the Gross-Mende analysis of the high-energy fixed-angle behavior of string amplitudes and the explicit numerical data. Motivated by this puzzle, we revisit the problem of classifying saddle-point geometries for the one-loop amplitude. We find an infinite family of complex saddles that dominate the high-energy regime. Using general constraints and matching to numerical data, we formulate a bootstrap problem that determines their multiplicities. This procedure yields a precise asymptotic expansion of the one-loop amplitude at high energies. The resulting oscillatory contributions lead to a much richer high-energy behavior than that predicted by the original Gross-Mende analysis.

Decoding multiway gravitational junctions in AdS in terms of holographic quantum maps

It has been shown that multiway junctions gluing $n$ copies of locally AdS$_3$ spacetimes ($n\geq 2$) can be described by $n-1$ strings obeying non-linear Nambu-Goto equations coupled by Monge-Ampère like terms. Here we study how such junctions along with their stringy degrees of freedom can be interpreted in terms of an interface between $n$ identical holographic conformal theories each defined on a semi-infinite line (wire). We study the gravitational scattering problem at the multiway junction, and show that at the linearized order the dual interfaces correspond to quantum maps which factorize into a product of a scattering matrix determined only by the tension of the dual junction and relative automorphisms of the Virasoro algebra governed by the $n-1$ stringy modes. Both of these are universal in the sense that they are independent of linear modifications of the background state. These generalize earlier results for the 2-way junctions implying that the dual interface is a tunable energy transmitter. We comment on understanding the quantum map corresponding to the full non-linear gravitational problem, and study Ward identities and unitarity bounds.
