On the Contributions to the $\bf U_Y(1)$ Chern-Simons Term and the Evolution of Fermionic Asymmetries and Hypermagnetic Fields

Abstract

We study simultaneous evolution of electron, neutrino and quark asymmetries, and large scale hypermagnetic fields in the symmetric phase of the electroweak plasma in the temperature range $100$GeV$\leq T\leq 10$TeV, taking into account the chirality flip processes via inverse Higgs decays and fermion number violation due to Abelian anomalies. We present a derivation of the coefficient of the Chern-Simons term for the hypercharge gauge field, showing that the left-handed and right-handed components of each fermion species contribute with opposite sign. This is in contrast to the results presented in some of the previous works. The $\textrm{U}_{\textrm{Y}}(1)$ Chern-Simons term affects the resulting anomalous magnetohydrodynamic (AMHD) equations. We solve the resulting coupled evolution equations for the lepton and baryon asymmetries, as well as the hypermagnetic field to obtain their time evolution along with their values at the electroweak phase transition ($T_{EW} \sim 100$GeV) for a variety of critical ranges for their initial values at $T=10$TeV. We first investigate the results of this sign change, by directly comparing our results with those obtained in one of the previous works and find that matter asymmetry generation increases considerably in the presence of a strong hypermagnetic field. Furthermore, we find that a strong hypermagnetic field can generate matter asymmetry starting from absolutely zero asymmetry, while matter asymmetry can generate a hypermagnetic field provided the initial value of the latter is nonzero.

First determination of fragmentation functions in an exotic-hadron candidate

In recent years, there are experimental reports on exotic-hadron candidates, which have different quark configurations from ordinary $q\bar q$ and $qqq$ constituents. However, it is not easy to confirm their exotic nature from global observables such as masses, spins, parities, and decay widths. At high energies, internal quark and gluon configurations could become more apparent because hadrons should be described by fundamental degrees of freedom of quarks and gluons in quantum chromodynamics. One of such possibilities is to use the fragmentation functions (FFs). In this work, accurate FFs of an exotic hadron candidate $f_0$(980) are determined for the first time by an global analysis of experimental data on $e^+ + e^- \to f_0 (980)+X$ with recent precise measurements of the Belle collaboration. From the global analysis, we found that their second moments have a relation $M_u = M_d \ll M_s \sim M_g $ for up-quark, down-quark, strange-quark, and gluon FFs. Furthermore, the function $D_s^{f_0}(z)$ is distributed in the larger-$z$ region in comparison with the functions $D_{u}^{f_0}(z)$, $D_{d}^{f_0}(z)$, and $D_g^{f_0}(z)$. These facts support that the $f_0 (980)$ has the $s\bar s$ configuration at high energies. This is a new finding that $f_0 (980)$ should be considered mainly as the $s\bar s$ state, which is different from our usual understanding as a tetraquark (or $K\bar K$) hadron from low-energy studies. Our results could indicate the transition of the internal configuration picture that $f_0 (980)$ looks like a $q\bar q$ state at high energies although it is described by tetra-quark or $K\bar K$ molecule state at low energies. It sheds light on a new direction in exotic hadron physics.

EFT Pathways to $|ΔB| =2$: Chiral Constructions and Phenomenology

We develop a systematic effective field theory framework for studying $|ΔB|=2$ interactions across energy scales. Using chiral symmetry, we construct the complete and non-redundant set of operators governing these interactions at low energies and establish their connection to the corresponding operators in the Standard Model effective field theory, as well as to their realizations in baryon chiral perturbation theory. The framework is then applied to the phenomenology of baryon-antibaryon oscillations and dinucleon decay. While oscillations probe only a limited subset of operator structures, dinucleon decay is sensitive to a significantly broader class, including transitions that are otherwise inaccessible. In addition, we identify previously unexplored dinucleon decay channels, which can probe these unconstrained regions of parameter space. More generally, this formalism makes explicit the complementarity of different probes and provides a consistent way to trace baryon-number-violating effects from their ultraviolet origin to low-energy hadronic observables, thereby providing a basis for systematic studies of ultraviolet models generating such interactions.

Chiral-odd structure of the $N \to Δ$ transition: tensor form factors from QCD light-cone sum rules

We report the first calculation of the tensor transition form factors of the $N \to Δ$ transition within QCD light-cone sum rules, and use them to construct the transverse multipole structure of this chiral-odd transition. The matrix element of the tensor current between the nucleon and $Δ$ states requires six independent Lorentz structures, a number fixed by the dimension of the parity-reduced helicity amplitude space and reproduced by the same counting in the electromagnetic, axial and gravitational $N \to Δ$ channels. The six form factors organize into transverse multipoles whose rank ceiling is the sum of the spin-transition rank and the rank of the probing operator. For a spin-$1/2$ target the ceiling is two, so the diagonal tensor sector and the electromagnetic $N \to Δ$ transition both stop at a quadrupole, whereas the chiral-odd transition reaches rank three. The resulting octupole has no counterpart in the diagonal matrix elements of the vector, axial-vector and tensor currents, nor in the electromagnetic transition. Each multipole is extracted from its own sum rule rather than by combining separately fitted form factors, improving the stability against the continuum threshold by an order of magnitude. Using nucleon distribution amplitudes for two sets of light-cone parameters, we obtain the monopole and dipole in both isospin channels and for both quark flavors, and the quadrupole in the isovector channel. The multipoles fall with rank, the dipole about half the monopole and the quadrupole about a fifth. A flavor decomposition sorts the form factors into two families according to whether the Lorentz structure they multiply contains a $γ$ matrix, and the transverse dipole is carried entirely by the $d$ quark. The results provide model-independent input for analyses of chiral-odd $N \to Δ$ transition GPDs, to be checked against lattice QCD.
