Some questions of Monte-Carlo modeling on nontrivial bundles

Abstract

In this work are considered some questions of Monte-Carlo modeling on nontrivial bundles. As a basic example is used problem of generation of straight lines in 3D space, related with modeling of interaction of a solid body with a flux of particles and with some other tasks. Space of lines used in given model is example of nontrivial fiber bundle, that is equivalent with tangent sheaf of a sphere.

Kohn-Sham models for encapsulated two-dimensional materials

We study Kohn-Sham Density Functional Theory (DFT) models describing the electronic structure of two-dimensional materials placed in a three-dimensional environment, encapsulated between two parallel conducting electrodes. In this geometry, the Dirichlet boundary conditions at the electrodes screen the Coulomb interaction, which becomes effectively short-ranged, of Yukawa type. We prove that some nonlinear Kohn-Sham DFT models are well-posed in this setting, both for periodic materials (such as graphene) and for quasi-periodic materials (such as twisted bilayer graphene and other moiré materials for generic incommensurate twist angles).

Cohomological beta function

We propose a cohomological approach to computing the conformal anomaly. Using the example of current-current deformations of two-dimensional conformal field theories, we reproduce the well-known Cardy formula for the leading contribution to the perturbative beta function as the coefficient of the cocycle that realizes the obstruction to deforming the conformal algebra module structure on the state space. In addition to offering a novel conceptual perspective on the conformal anomaly, the proposed approach is anticipated to provide an efficient tool for computing higher-order coefficients of perturbative beta functions.

Exact Chained-Word Threshold and Monotone-Path Structure in the Even Root-of-Unity Kaleidoscope Yang-Baxter Algebra

Qiu, Guan, and Yu conjectured that in the even-order Kaleidoscope Yang--Baxter equation every word $ΛT^{k_1}Λ\cdots T^{k_M}Λ$, built from a square-zero matrix $Λ$ and integer powers of a shift $T$ of order $N$, vanishes once $M\geq N/2$. We prove this for every even $N\geq4$ and every complex parameter $u$ with $u\neq0$ and $u^N\neq1$, and show that the bound is sharp. For $M=N/2-1$ we determine exactly which words are nonzero; each of them has rank two. After block reduction, the factors associated with the intervening powers of $T$ lower a common flag of length $N/2$ by at least one step. The spectral idempotents of $T$ then give a presentation of the algebra generated by $T$ and $Λ$ by paths between levels, in which two paths compose only when the level changes monotonically. This algebra is independent of $u$, has dimension $N^2-N+2$, and is a pullback of two incidence algebras. Its radical is generated by $Λ$ and has nilpotency index $N/2+1$, and the algebra has infinite global dimension and infinite representation type. Replacing powers of $T$ by arbitrary functions of $T$ gives exact rank formulas and, for $N\geq6$, rank-one elements in the top radical power. Finally, four conditions on a filtered pair of operators over an arbitrary field recover the threshold and the radical; none of them can be omitted.
